Doubly good day at the Breeding Stock Sales
1st December 11

Aston Mullins stud had a doubly good day at yesterday’s Tattersalls Breeding Stock sales with two of our horses selling for 375,000gns. Don’t Forget Faith sold to John Warren for 210,000gns. The mare, who won has a juvenile for Clive Cox before winning

Racing and Breeding

In conjunction with our partner Stephen Barrow we have enjoyed racing two group fillies, Hope n Charity and Don't Forget Faith, both trained and acquired by Clive Cox and Richard Brown of Blandford Bloodstock respectively. Hope n Charity's victory in the Empress Stakes at Newmarket was a highlight. Let us hope Sugar Hiccup and Capercaille measure up in the summer of 2011.

A highlight for this season will be watching the progress of I Love Me, the first foal of Garanciere. Having won the Tattersalls Million with ease I Love Me then went on to be a close third in the Rockfel Stakes on Champions Day. Her trainer Andrew Balding advises that she will go straight to the Thousand Guinneas on 1st May.

The farm bred its first stakes winner in the guise of the Duke of Homberg who was victorious in the Hallandale Beach Stakes (1 mile) at Gulfstream Park in February 2009. He races for Satish Sanan of Padua Stables. Bred jointly with Nelius Hayes of Knockainey Stud he was sold at Deauville in 2007. The first foal out of mare called Woodlass(USA), both the dam and second foal were sold to Mark Johnston.

Other notable winners and placed horses include Mornin Reserves, Dubawi Heights (3rd on the Lowther) and Pusey Street Lady.

Sales Record

In November 2009, Aston Mullins sold a colt foal by Cape Cross out of Rosie’s Posy for 130,000gns to Clodagh McStay of Oaklawn Stud. The dam is the daughter of the high class Mr Branch and therefore a half sister to group 1 Haydock Sprint Cup winner Tante Rose.

Cathy Grassick who bought the colt on behalf of Clodagh McStay said ‘’I have been trying had to get the right horse all week, and this foal was a lovely individual and I really liked his pedigree’’

In 2005, in conjunction with Knockainey Stud we sold a Montjeu colt out of Sparkys Song for 135,000gns to Paul Shanahan and Timmy Hyde.

The year prior at the Deauville Premier Sale, Aston Mullins sold the highest priced Halling colt out of Society to Sheikh Mohammed’s Darley. He fetched 150,000euros.
